2.4GHz RF mikroBUS Module, nRF24L01+, SMA (nRF S click)

  • nRF S Click is an add-on board in mikroBUS form factor. It features a Nordic nRF24L01+ (also called nRF24L01P) 2.4 GHz transceiver module with an embedded baseband protocol engine, and an SMA connector for attaching an external antenna. The board supports an air data rate of 250 Kbps, 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps and it is suitable for low-power designs. Typical applications include wireless PC peripherals, remotes, VoIP headsets, game controllers, sensors, home and commercial automation, active RFID, toys, etc. The nRF S Click communicates with a target board microcontroller via mikroBUS SPI (SDI, SDO, SCK, CS#), CE and INT lines.

    Note: This board is designed to use 3.3V power supply only. It has an LED power indicator. Also, be aware that most 2.4 GHz antennas are designed to attach to a male RP-SMA connector, whereas this board has a female SMA connector. Most antennas with a male SMA connector are designed for lower frequencies (e.g. cellular frequencies) and may not perform well at 2.4 GHz.

    There are three types of nRF Click board. Besides this one with an SMA connector (which will require an external antenna, sold separately), there is a version with PCB trace antenna and a smaller version with on-board chip antenna

    Note: The picture shows the board with through-hole headers. The board now comes populated with male pin headers already soldered for your convenience. The board's user manual has yet to be updated to remove the soldering instructions.

    mikroBUS Click Boards Overview

    Click boards plug directly into a mikroBUS socket. mikroBUS is a specially designed plug-and-play pinout standard. The sockets are found on Clicker boards, the Flip & Click Arduino/Python-compatible board, the Quail board, these mikromedia shields, the Microchip Curiosity board, and development systems from mikroElektronika (V7 systems and later).
