Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Module with nRF8001, Bluetooth 4.0 US$9.00

MOD-nRF8001
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Module with nRF8001, Bluetooth 4.0

Allows BLE devices such as iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, etc. to connect to Arduino boards

MOD-nRF8001 is a low-cost Bluetooth Low Energy module (Bluetooth 4.0) which works with Arduino, Pinguino, and Maple boards. Demo examples for these three platforms have been tested.

BLE is interesting for iPhone developers, because it is not subject to licensing from Apple like normal Bluetooth is. This means you can connect devices to iPhone via BLE without the need to be "approved" by Apple.

Other phones and tablets with Bluetooth 4.0 also can work with MOD-nRF8001. This makes physical computing or sensor interfaces possible at low cost. MOD-nRF8001 has a line-of-sight range of up to 50 to 60 meters.

MOD-nRF8001 is designed for easy integration to existing PCBs. It can be soldered onto your PCB using the cut-through pads, or connected to a breadboard if you solder two 0.1"-pitch step connectors to the through-hole header pads. You could even solder a 10-pin UEXT connector to it if you wanted to connect it to systems with a UEXT port.
