Contactless Thermometer Board, TMP006 Thermopile, I2C, 3.3V-5V

Use this board to build your own contactless thermometer. This board breaks out the pins of the tiny TMP006 Infrared Thermopile Sensor to 0.1"-spaced through-hole pads, making it easy to work with.

The board also provides resistors so that you can connect a 5V system or 3.3V system and start using the otherwise low-voltage sensor right away.

The TMP006 measures the temperature of an object without the need to make contact with the object. It uses a thermopile to absorb the infrared energy emitted from the object being measured and uses the corresponding change in thermopile voltage to determine the object's temperature.

The infrared sensor range is specified from 40C to +125C (-40F to +257F), enabling use in a wide range of applications.

The default I2C address of the sensor is 0x40. If you will be working with multiple sensors or with another I2C device, the address can be changed. See the schematic for a table of connections you can make to the ADR0 and ADR1 pins to change the address (in the table, a connection of 1 means VCC while 0 means GND).

The board's DRDY pin can be used if you need to know the exact moment when a sensor measurement is complete and ready for reading. It is pulled Low when measurement data are ready to be acquired. If you don't intend to use that notification feature, you can leave this pin disconnected.

The only pins you need to connect to use the board with its default I2C address are VCC (5V or 3.3V), GND, SCL and SDA.
