0.5mm Pitch 40-pin QFP/QFN-to-DIP Adapter and Arduino Shield Kit This kit allows you to design and build an Arduino shield that will use a surface-mount chip in 0.5mm-pitch 40-pin QFP/QFN package — without needing any expert soldering skills. The kit is a combination of the 0.5mm Pitch 40-pin QFP/QFN-to-DIP Adapter PCBs and the Arduino Shield Prototyping Kit. QFP/QFN-to-DIP Adapter Features This is a QFP/QFN-to-DIP adapter with a twist. This has the patented Schmartboard|ez technology that makes soldering surface-mount devices easy. Your SMT part will sit in grooves that hold it in place and already have solder in them. So all you need to do is put a chip in the grooves, apply flux, and use a small enough soldering tip. The adapter supports a 40-pin QFP or QFN device with 0.5mm pitch (6×6mm body). The board also includes room for 0805 SMT discrete components (e.g. a bypass capacitor), and pads for easy access to ground. Also, a large plated hole in the center of the device area allows for the addition of solder to utilize ground pads on the bottom of a device. A strip of 40 male pin headers is included. This strip can be snapped apart so that you can create the individual 20-pin segments needed to complete the 40-pin DIP package. If you want to utilize the 0805 component pins too, be sure to order an additional strip of pin headers using the option box at the bottom of this page. Arduino Shield Prototyping Board Features This prototyping board features an offset through-hole pattern that provides you with greater flexibility than standard through-hole boards. This kit includes all the basic components most Arduino shields need (stackable headers, LEDs, buttons, resistors, capacitor), plus a 170-point solderless breadboard. The Arduino headers are R3 compatible, and provided in both the Arduino offset and "corrected" 0.1-inch pitch. This allows you to make your shield compatible with either or both the official and third-party Arduino systems.
