The Beefcake Relay Control Kit contains all the parts you need to get your high-power load under control. The heart of the board is a sealed SPDT 20A relay rated for up to 240V AC or 28V DC. The relay is BC part number JQX-15F / 005-1Z1. It is controlled by 5V logic through a transistor. An LED indicates the relay state.
This is a kit, so it comes as through-hole parts with assembly required. Screw terminal connectors on each side of the board make it easy to incorporate into your project. Note: Although the relay supports up to 20A, the terminal contacts are rated for only 8A. When assembled, the finished board will measure 28 × 61 mm and be 25 mm tall.
WARNING! Using this board can be extremely dangerous. There is a serious design flaw that doesn't provide as much isolation as there should be (the relay is oriented wrong, resulting in exceedingly long traces with high and low voltage lines in close proximity). The manufacturer designed the PCB believing they were using an SPST-NO relay, but it is in fact an SPDT relay. Also, the screw terminals are rated for only 8A maximum; for a larger load, you'll have to solder directly to the board (and keep in mind the rating difference between resistive and inductive loads). Only those with plenty of high-voltage experience who can understand the limitations and dangers of this board should attempt to use it.
