The TB1100A Terminal Block Adapter attaches to a DB9M serial port connector. It provides a convenient way of attaching wires in RS232, RS422 and RS485 systems. Wires can be inserted into the screwless terminal contacts. The terminals are wired 1:1 to the DB9 connector, with pins 1-9 arranged from left to right. Pin 1 is indicated by a bump in the plastic housing. The following table shows the typical terminal contact functions when the TB1100A is connected to a DS100B or DS1102, for which this block is an optional accessory. The same pinouts apply to the DS1002/DS1012 and DS1003/DS1013 devices (which include four of this adapter already). You also can use this block with RS232-only devices, e.g. DS100R, DS1000/DS1010 series, DS1100, DS1101, etc. Note that not all RS232 devices support every RS232 signal shown here (for example, among the Tibbo devices listed here, only the DS1101 supports the DCD signal). This table is merely a guide for typical usage with the devices listed above. Your particular device may have a different pinout, putting signals on different pins (even some of the devices listed above have configurable RS232 pinouts, e.g. the DS1101 and DS1102). Check your device's documentation to be certain which pin number corresponds to which signal in your application. Pin | RS232 (full-duplex) | RS422 (full-duplex) | RS485 (half-duplex) | 1 | DCD | RTS- (output) | No connection | 2 | RX (input) | RX- (input) | RX- (input) | 3 | TX (output) | TX+ (output) | TX+ (output) | 4 | DTR (output) | TX- (output) | TX- (output) | 5 | Ground | Ground | Ground | 6 | DSR (input) | RX+ (input) | RX+ (input) | 7 | RTS (output) | RTS+ (output) | No connection | 8 | CTS (input) | CTS+ (input) | No connection | 9 | No connection | CTS- (input) | No connection | Note: Unlike the earlier TB100, this block does not have any built-in termination switches/resistors for RS422 or RS485, nor for two-wire RS485 mode. You must create those termination circuits yourself externally. Adapter Dimensions: 34 × 26 × 16 mm Inverted version available If you would prefer the wires to be connected on the opposite site, purchase the TB1100B instead; it has the DB9F connector rotated 180 degrees compared to this TB1100A.
