TI DM3730/AM3715 (ARM Cortex-A8) Evaluation Board

  • The Embest DevKit8500D (DM3730 processor) and DevKit8500A (AM3715 processor) Evaluation Boards utilize the full features of the DM3730/AM3715 processors and support up to 512MByte DDR SDRAM and 512MByte NAND Flash as well as a reserved iNAND design to expand the Flash storage capabilities. The board has exposed many other hardware interfaces including serial ports, LCD/TSP, DVI-D, S-Video, Ethernet, USB, microSD, keyboard, camera, SPI, I2C and JTAG. The board is able to support Linux 2.6.32 and WinCE 6.0 operating systems. It has two methods to boot Linux and WinCE systems: from either TF card or NAND Flash. In addition, it is provided with a demo of Android 2.2 with driver source code. Instructions are included on how to boot the Android demo image from NAND Flash with a microSD card.

    Development Kit Version

    The development kit version includes the DevKit8500D or DevKit8500A board and all necessary accessories to help you start your own applications. The board is preloaded with Linux OS in NAND Flash and WinCE OS on microSD card. You can display the subsystem using a TFT LCD and Touchscreen (available as an option), using a DVI-D monitor (HDMI-to-DVI cable provided), or using a TV via NTSC/PAL video out (S-Video cable provided).

    The Texas Instruments DM3730 DaVinci digital media processor features both an ARM Cortex-A8 CPU capable of up to 1 GHz operation and a C64x+ DSP core capable of up to 800 MHz operation. It also has an integrated 3D graphics processor, imaging and video accelerator (IVA), USB 2.0, MMC/SD memory card, UART and much more. The DaVinci DM3730 video processor is pin-to-pin compatible with Sitara AM37x devices and software compatible with the OMAP35x processors. The C64x+ DSP and hardware video accelerator enables audio and HD 720p video decoding and encoding independent of the ARM processor. The programmable DSP engine allows multiple signal-processing tasks such as image processing and analysis, digital filtering, and math functions. The DaVinci DM3730 video processor is suitable for 720p HD (High Definition) video applications which require a large amount of data processing.
