CS-428/9AT-ISO is an 2.5kV opto-isolated RS232 to RS422 or RS485 signal converter. RS422 or RS485 modes are selected via a DIP switch setting. It operates with no extra software installation.

RS232 to RS422/RS485 Converter Opto-Isolation

The CS-428/9AT-ISO uses opt-couplers rated at 2.5kV to isolate all RS232 singals from the RS422/Rs485 side. The unit's power supply for the RS232 and RS422/RS485 transceivers is isolated via a DC-DC coupler.

Auto RTS Control (Auto Toggling)

In a 1:N communication environment it is undesirable that multiple devices send data at the same time as it causes data collisions that lead to data errors. To prevent this only one device can send data at any given time, which means that data I/O control is necessary. The CS-428/9AT-ISO performs automatic toggling of the RTS line by hardware, eliminating the need to implement data flow control in software.

RS485 Echo Mode

The CS-428/9AT-ISO can be configured for Echo or non-Echo mode via an internal jumper. In RS485 Echo Mode the output signal (TX) is routed back to the Input (RX). This mode can, for example, be used to diagnose RS485 bus data collisions. The CS-428/9AT-ISO implments echo mode in hardware.
