This kit includes an Embedded Internet Development Board, a full version C compiler with IDE, and an In-Circuit Programmer and Debugger at a savings of $60 over purchasing each of the components separately. In addition, the kit includes a power supply.
The embedded internet development board allows you to evaluate TCP/IP and internet connectivity. It includes both a 56K modem and a 10Mb ethernet connection. A version of Microchip's TCP/IP stack API has been ported to the board, so you can develop your own applications. To use the modem, you need to have a PPP connection from your internet service provider.
Two example programs are provided that demonstrate the TCP/IP prototype board, the TCP/IP API and the PCWH compiler. The first example is a simple webserver that allows web clients to view the potentiometer reading from anywhere in the world using a web browser. The second example is an SMTP/E-Mail client, which shows how to send E-mails. A schematic is provided to show how to add a 56K modem or Realtek 8019A to your own applications.
