This cable's 3-pin female JST connector has five-inch wires attached (red, black, and yellow). It can connect directly to many different Sharp sensors, such as the GP2Y0A21YK0F IR Distance Sensor. It also can connect to these 2x16 Serial LCDs.

Note that this cable has a connector on one end only. The wires on the other end are left for you to crimp on a connector of your choice or to strip and solder onto your device. For example, you can solder them to the LCD pads on the Arduino CAN Shield, then plug the JST connector into one of the Serial LCDs linked above.
