I/O Board, Ethernet, 55 Digital I/O, 7 Analog Inputs, Counters US$92.00

PoKeys57ET
I/O Board, Ethernet, 55 Digital I/O, 7 Analog Inputs, Counters

PoKeys57ET is an easy-to-use Ethernet I/O device that combines a lot of inputs and outputs, and does not require complex programming knowledge. Pokeys57ET provides 55 digital I/O (5V tolerant), 7 analog inputs (12-bit), PWM outputs and more. All the I/O are controlled by the provided software which allows you to use either its graphical user interface or an advanced console-type interface. The settings can be stored on the device, so no special software is needed on the target system. PoKeys57 can be used as an industrial or CNC control or data acquisition board.

Digital I/O Ethernet Board Features

  • Ethernet 10/100 with DHCP client or fixed IP support
  • TCP connection to device
  • 55 digital inputs with pull-up resistors
  • 55 software-controlled digital outputs
  • 7 analog inputs (12-bit) with adjustable low-pass filtering support
  • Up to 26 encoder pair inputs (3 high-speed encoder inputs, 1 ultra-high-speed encoder input)
  • 3-axis 25 kHz Pulse engine
  • Digital counters on specific digital input pins
  • Up to 16×8 matrix keyboard
  • Two 8×8 matrix LED display support
  • Up to 6 high-speed fully configurable PWM outputs support (25 MHz PWM timer)
  • HD44780-based character LCD support (up to 4×20 characters)
  • PoExtBus support for adding up to 10 external shift registers (i.e. 80 additional outputs)
  • PoNET devices support (48-key CNC keyboard, etc.)
  • Modbus TCP support (access to digital I/O, analog inputs, encoders' counters, digital counters' values, PWM outputs, LCD display, LED matrix display, PoExtBus devices, matrix keyboard status)
  • Support for up to 10 sensors on I2C bus, up to 10 sensors on 1-wire bus and up to 7 analog sensors
  • Web interface with newly designed dashboard and I/O status display with multiple user accounts
  • Support for communication with devices on I2C and 1-wire buses
  • Support for Connection signal output
  • Intuitive and user-friendly software
  • Third-party support via communication DLL library and extensive protocol specification document that allows porting to other systems
  • Plugin for Mach software

Graphical Programming Software

The software package includes a new graphical programming tool called PoBlocks, which makes creating your code as easy as drawing a flowchart.

  • Download PoBlocks Overview (PDF file)
  • Cosm Web Services Support

PoKeys57E can upload selected sensor values to Cosm web services, making the values accessible from all over the world. See a feed of an SHT21 temperature and humidity sensor connected to a PoKeys56E: https://cosm.com/feeds/62592. For details on using Cosm web services with PoKeys57E devices, please see the PoKeys user manual.

    System Requirements

    • Ethernet connection between host computer and the PoKeys57E device
    • 5V DC power supply with at least 400 mA current — beefier supply may be required depending on peripherals added to the PoKeys57
    • Included software requires Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 with .NET framework 3.5 (only for systems where the devices will be configured; the target system needs no software installation for the device to operate as a standard network device)

    Digital I/O Ethernet Board Resources

Note: PoKeys57E is the same as PoKeys56E functionally; it only has more memory. When reading the documentation and using the software, please refer to PoKeys56E if the 57E is not mentioned specifically. The T on our part number simply indicates that the terminal blocks come already installed.

See also the USB version, PoKeys56UT.

    Power Supply Options

The board has screw terminals for power input. If your supply doesn't have bare wires to plug into them (or you don't want to mutilate your power supply's cable), you can get a Screw Terminal to 2.1mm Barrel Jack Adapter and simply connect a couple of wires between them. If you need a 5V power supply as well, get the USB to 2.1mm Barrel Plug Adapter which plugs into the previous adapter and allows you to power the board from a PC's USB port. If you'd prefer a wall-mount supply, get those first two items plus the 5V Wall-Mount Supply with USB Connector — connect all three of these items together. They're all quite inexpensive, but the 5V supply is not regulated and may be lower or higher than 5V depending on load (4.81V to 5.20V in testing).

For regulated 5V, replace the supply above with the DCDC6-16-TO5 which turns a 6V to 16V DC input from a 2.1mm barrel jack into a 5V output to a USB connector. Use the first two adapters in the above paragraph in combination with this and a power supply of your choice (such as WA-VAR-US or WA-UNI).

If you don't mind soldering, you can bypass those first two adapters by soldering VCC and GND wires to a USB Breakout Board.
