Real-Time Clock (RTC) counts seconds, minutes, hours, date, month, day, and year, with leap-year function DS1307 RTC chip with standard I2C interface Programmable square-wave output signal Backup battery included The RTC2 PROTO Board features the DS1307 serial real-time clock (RTC). It is a low-power, full binary-coded decimal (BCD) clock/calendar plus 56 bytes of NV SRAM. Timekeeping operation continues even when the power supply goes off as it is then powered from the backup supply. It is easily connected to standard prototyping boards via five pin pads with standard 0.1" spacing. The pads are unpopulated. Male header pins are provided that you can solder on. This board is ideal for applications which require real-time clocks, calendars and programmed alarms. It enables your microcontroller to have access to the real time and date, including corrections for leap year. The DS1307 chip has an alarm function featuring automatic power-fail detection. It is used to generate an interrupt and square-wave output signal. The board communicates with your host microcontroller via serial I2C interface. Note: This board is designed to use 5V power supply only. To add RTC to a 3.3V system, see the version of this board with a PCF8583. Real-Time Clock Board Resources
