3 Band GSM GPRS Development Board w/ ATmega32 US$55.00

AVR-GSM
3 Band GSM GPRS Development Board w/ ATmega32

3 Band GSM GPRS Development Board with ATmega32

The AVR-GSM is an excellent board for adding remote monitoring and control in rural areas via GSM cellular network. It contains an ATmega32 microcontroller and a 3-band GSM GPRS module (900/1800/1900 MHz), which covers most GSM networks around the world. The GSM antenna is built into the board, so there's no need for an expensive external GSM antenna.

AVR-GSM has two relays rated 240V AC at 10A, two opto-isolated inputs which can be connected to alarm sensors or just buttons for user actions (like to call pre-loaded phone numbers), an on-board temperature sensor, and a connector to add up to eight addressable remote temperature sensors (to be available soon) which work at up to 30 meter distance from the module.

A normal phone jack can be connected to this board to allow you to speak, listen, take and place calls as a normal stand-alone cellular phone. AVR-GSM can be connected to a PC via USB and it will be recognized as modem, so you can add internet via GPRS to your computer (imagine how useful this is if you're in an area with no standard ISP).

3 Band GSM GPRS Development Board Features

  • MCU: ATmega32 with 32KB Flash memory, 2KB RAM, 1KB EEPROM
  • AVR JTAG connector (top view on target board) for in-circuit programming and debugging with AVR JTAG In-Circuit Debugger & Programmer
  • GSM GPRS 3-band module, 900/1800/1900 MHz with on-board GSM cellular antenna
  • Li-ion backup battery up to 200 hours of GSM module stand-by
  • SIM-card holder
  • Two Relays, 240V AC / 10A
  • Two opto-isolated inputs
  • USB interface
  • 2.5mm Hands-free connector
  • Buzzer (ringer)
  • Status LED
  • On-board digital temperature sensor
  • Connector for remote temperature sensors with 30-meter maximum distance from AVR-GSM (sensors will be sold separately)
  • 26-pin extension connector for all unused ATmega32 ports
  • PCB: FR-4, 1.5 mm (0.062"), soldermask, silkscreen component print
  • Dimensions: 130 × 82 × 34 mm (5.1 × 3.2 × 1.3")

Note: The AVR-GSM is not FCC approved. The GSM modem itself has FCC approval, but the entire board does not. This means you can only use this board for evaluation and your own development. If you want to sell this unit to end users, you will have to get your entire application FCC approved before doing so.

To use the GSM modem function, you need to subscribe to or get a pre-paid card from a mobile phone service provider that has a GSM network (in the U.S., those are AT&T and T-Mobile). The GSM SIM card needs to be inserted into the GSM modem's SIM card holder.
