Stepper Motor Driver mikroBUS Module, A4988 (Stepper 2 click)


  • Drives bipolar stepper motors in full-, half-, quarter-, eighth- and sixteenth-step modes

  • Simple to integrate a single pulse drives the motor one microstep
  • 3.3V power supply, but also compatible with 5V logic
  • Stepper 2 click carries an A4988 microstepping motor driver along with screw terminals for connecting a motor and a required external power supply (minimum 7V). The output drive capacity of the motor is up to 35V and 2A. The A4988 chip is designed to drive bipolar stepper motors in full-, half-, quarter-, eighth- and sixteenth-step modes. A set of three on-board SMD jumpers (J1-J3) allow you to switch between the different stepping modes. They come in the Full Step configuration by default.     The board communicates with your target MCU through EN, RST, SL, ST and DIR pins (corresponding to AN, RST, CS, PWM and INT pins of the default mikroBUS configuration). The DIR pin is for determining the motor's rotational direction.

    Stepper 2 click uses a 3.3V power supply but is also compatible with 5V logic. It features three pairs of screw terminals. The terminals 2B, 2A, 1A and 1B are for connecting the stepper motor; VIN and GND are for bringing an external power supply.

    mikroBUS Click Boards Overview

    Click boards come with header pins that you must solder yourself. After that, they just plug directly into a mikroBUS socket. mikroBUS is a specially designed plug-and-play pinout standard. The sockets are found on Clicker boards, the Flip & Click Arduino-compatible board, the Quail board, these mikromedia shields, the Microchip Curiosity board, and development systems from mikroElektronika (V7 systems and later).
