The CMI8848 expands the capability of Ethernut 1, Ethernut 2, Ethernut 3 and Ethernut 5 boards by providing eight galvanically isolated digital I/O channels, available at pluggable spring-cage terminal blocks. In combination with an Ethernut board, AC and DC loads and states can be monitored and controlled remotely over a TCP/IP network. The boards are stackable; two CMI8848 boards can be supported by a single Ethernut board, giving you 16 I/O.
Eight optocoupler inputs can be configured individually via jumpers to sense dry contacts or voltages between 3.3V and 48V. Eight solid-state relay outputs can drive high loads direcly, e.g. contactors, actuators or motors. All optocouplers and relays are mounted in sockets and may be replaced by pin-compatible components.
The board ships with two 8-pin 2.5mm terminal plugs, one 2-pin 2.5mm terminal plug, four M3 × 16mm spacers, eight M3 × 6mm screws, and 30 jumpers.

Software A ready-to-use webserver application allows you to control and monitor I/Os with a web browser. In addition, well documented C source code samples are available for all Ethernut boards to help you with your own projects.
Support Several companies with many years of experience in Nut/OS software and Ethernut hardware offer commercial support. Furthermore, mailing lists are an important element of this Open Source project, where developers use each other's experience to help solving respective problems.
License The entire source code for the target system, as well as the hardware design, has a permission-free BSD License and can be used in commercial products for any purpose without license fees. In contrast to some other Open Source license models, it does not require you to publish your own source code enhancements.
