Ultraviolet Sensor mikroBUS Module, ML8511, 3.3V (UV click)


  • Sensitivity range from 365 to 280 nm (UV-A and UV-B rays)

  • Designed to use 3.3V power supply
  • With UV click, you can design devices that warn you of excessive ultraviolet radiation levels. UV click carries an ML8511 UV sensor IC that is sensitive to UV-A (365-315nm) and UV-B (315-280nm) rays. The board can produce a digital or analog output signal that is linearly proportional to the UV intensity it detects (UV intensity is measured in mW/cmē).

    Output is digital by default, communicating via mikroBUS SPI (CS, SCK, MISO) lines. You can bypass the on-board MCP3201 ADC if you want to use the ADC on your host microcontroller instead — just solder the A/D Select jumper (zero-Ohm resistor) to the AN position and the board will produce analog output on the mikroBUS AN line.

    The sensor can be enabled or disabled by the host MCU through the RST (EN) pin.

    Note: UV click uses a 3.3V power supply only. Also, be careful not to press or rub the sensitive surface of the ML8511 sensor IC.

    The sensor responds to UV-A and UV-B rays. UV-A makes up to 95 percent of Ultraviolet light we're exposed to, but UV-B is the one causing sunburns. Be careful when experimenting with it.
