Linear Hall-effect Sensor mikroBUS Module (Lin Hall click)


  • Linear output proportional to magnetic flux density
  • Built-in active error-correction circuitry
  • Can be used on either 3.3V or 5V systems
  • Lin Hall click has a linear Hall-effect sensor that will give you an output proportional to the density of the magnetic flux to which it is exposed. A north-pole magnetic field will increase the output, while a south-pole field will decrease it.

    This linear type of sensor is used to infer the linear or rotary position of a target object, provided the target has a magnet attached or something else which disturbs a magnetic field. Examples include measurements of throttle or joystick position.

    The board contains a Melexis MLX90242 linear Hall-effect sensor and an MCP3201 12-bit ADC.

    The Lin Hall click module communicates with your target board via the mikroBUS SPI lines (CS, CSK, MISO). It is designed to use either a 3.3V or a 5V power supply, selectable via two solder jumpers (in 3.3V position by default).

    Note: The picture shows the board with through-hole headers. The board now comes populated with male pin headers already soldered for your convenience. The board's user manual has yet to be updated to remove the soldering instructions.

    • Bi Hall Click Bipolar version (LOW when exposed to north pole; HIGH when exposed to south pole; retains state when field is removed)
    • Uni Hall Click Unipolar version (LOW when exposed to north pole; HIGH when not exposed to north pole)
    • 3D Hall Click 3D version (detects position of magnet in space)
