Inductance-to-Digital Converter mikroBUS Module (LDC1000 click) US$35.00

MIKROE-1583
Inductance-to-Digital Converter mikroBUS Module (LDC1000 click)

  • Adds reliable inductive sensing technology to your design
  • Sub-micron resolution in short-range applications
  • Detachable sensor (36-turn PCB coil and 100pF 1% NPO capacitor)
  • Can be used with 3.3V or 5V power supply
  • Inductive sensing is contactless, magnet-free, and reliable in tough conditions. It can use any conducting material as its target a groundbreaking technology with huge potential in embedded design. It's now available to you, with the LDC1000 click.

Inductive sensing can be used to measure position, motion, or shape of a metal or any other conductive target; to detect the compression, extension, torque and twist of a spring; in push-button switches or game controllers; or to find defects in material composition. It supports pressed-foil or conductive-ink targets. There are many ways in which you can use it.

In short-range applications, the LDC1000 has a sub-micron resolution. The high precision of the sensor isn't impeded by harsh conditions like dirt, dust, oil or moisture.

The click board itself features a detachable PCB sensor (an LC tank comprised of a 36-turn PCB coil and a 100pF 1% NPO capacitor). You can try out your own sensors by breaking off the original, and soldering yours to the on-board INA and INB pins (it doesn't have to be a coil on a PCB; it can be made from a wire, or even a simple spring all low-cost solutions).

LDC1000 click communicates with your target board through the mikroBUS SPI (CS, SCK, MISO, MOSI) and INT lines. This board can be used with either a 3.3V or a 5V power supply, selectable via a solder jumper (in 3.3V position by default).

Note: The picture shows the board with through-hole headers. The board now comes populated with male pin headers already soldered for your convenience. The board's user manual has yet to be updated to remove the soldering instructions.

    mikroBUS Click Boards Overview

Click boards plug directly into a mikroBUS socket. mikroBUS is a specially designed plug-and-play pinout standard. The sockets are found on Clicker boards, the Flip & Click Arduino/Python-compatible board, the Quail board, these mikromedia shields, the Microchip Curiosity board, and development systems from mikroElektronika (V7 systems and later).

You also can connect Click boards to many other popular platforms via these adapters:

    • PC Click USB Adapter (MIKROE-1433)
    • Arduino Arduino UNO click shield (MIKROE-1581) or Arduino Mega click shield (MIKROE-1900)
    • Raspberry Pi Pi click shield (MIKROE-1512) or Pi 2 click shield (MIKROE-1879)
    • BeagleBone Black BeagleBone click shield (MIKROE-1596) or mikroBUS Cape (MIKROE-1857)
    • STM32F3 Discovery STM32F3 Discovery Shield (MIKROE-1447)
    • STM32F4 Discovery STM32F4 Discovery Shield (MIKROE-1481)
    • Stellaris LM4F120 LaunchPad / Tiva TM4C123G LaunchPad Click BOOSTER PACK (MIKROE-1363)
    • Freescale Freedom — FRDM-KL46Z click shield (MIKROE-1795) or FRDM-K64F click shield (MIKROE-1794)

In addition, it is royalty-free to add mikroBUS to your own designs. Visit the mikroBUS Category to see the full line of Click boards.
