This Voltage Translator Board is an accessory that performs level conversion between a 5V interface and a 3.3V or lower interface. This board was designed to be connected to a single port on any of these boards in the Elexol IO24/IO72 Controller Range:

The connection between the IO24/IO72 Controller Module and the Voltage Translator Board is via a 30cm IDC10 connection cable which is included.

It's also possible to use this board with other I/O modules; you'll just have to plug female jumper wires onto the appropriate pins.

The board consists of two 74LVC4245 Bus Transceivers that are used for the level conversion. Each device is configured for a set level conversion of either 5V to 3V3 or 3V3 to 5V for a single 8-bit port.

The jumpers on the board are used to route the direction of the signal for the voltage translation. Each jumper needs to be configured in the correct direction for the board to operate: 5V IN to 3V3 OUT, and 3V3 IN to 5V OUT. Lower levels, down to 1.8V, are possible by removal of another jumper and supplying external power to the board; see the datasheet.

The board has been designed to a 72mm standard width so that it can be mounted in DIN rail modules.

  • Dimensions: 40.5 72 11 mm (1.59 2.8 0.43 inches)

Note: When using this board with one of the USB IO24 boards, you may exceed the maximum current draw allowed via USB specifications. Use with care.
