  • The MYD-AM3358 is a high-performance ARM development board with a removable CPU module as the core controller board. The core board contains a 1GHz Texas Instruments Sitara AM3358BZCZ100 ARM Cortex-A8 Microprocessor that produces high DMIPS at a low cost while also delivering PowerVR SGX 3D graphics acceleration and key peripherals. The AM3358 can support the Linux, Android and Windows CE high-level operating systems.

    The AM3358's Programmable Real-Time Unit and Industrial Communication Subsystem (PRU-ICSS), separate from the ARM core, allows independent operation and clocking for greater efficiency and flexibility.

    The combination of graphics and connectivity support makes the TI AM3358 MPU ideal for home automation, industrial automation, enterprise/educational tablets, portable navigation devices and networking. Although the CPU has a wider temperature range, this board as a whole is rated for 0 to 70 C. Extended temperature range of -40 to +80 C is available upon request; you can select this below.

    The core board can be removed and put into your own project after development. As well as the CPU itself, it contains a Gigabit Ethernet PHY, 512MB NAND Flash, and 512MB total DDR SDRAM. The module connects to the main board via two 2mm-pitch 230-pin male headers (CN1 & CN2). It also has pads for further extension headers that you can install optionally: one 2mm-pitch 213-pin header (CN3), and one 2.54mm-pitch 10-pin header (CN4).

    The base board provides many peripheral interfaces, such as two serial ports, four USB Host ports, one USB OTG port, two Ethernet ports, and one each of CAN, RS485, microSD, HDMI, LCD, and Touchscreen interfaces. It also provdes a power connector, RTC battery holder, user buttons, LEDs, and audio in/out jacks.

    The board comes with Linux 3.2.0, Android 4.2.2 and Windows CE7 software packages, detailed documentation, and all necessary cables. At the bottom of this page, you can add an optional LCD touchscreen.

    The included MYC-AM3358 CPU module plugs into the main board, and can be replaced by other modules so you can evaluate the different processors in the TI AM335x series. The differences between the six available processors are as follows:

    Notes: PRU-ICSS is used for slave industrial communication protocols like PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Powerlink and Ethernet/IP. All boards in this line use the 800MHz version of the respective CPU in 1515/0.8mm ZCZ package, except the AM3358, which uses the 1GHz version. Lead time varies based on CPU! If you need something quickly for development, the AM3358 or AM3352 boards are recommended for the shortest lead time. All boards have the same price regardless of CPU.

    If you want an extended temperature range system, use the Temperature Range option selector, then be sure that any additional CPU modules you order are the ones whose names end with Ext. Temp. Remember that if you don't select the extended temperature range in that option but do select an extra CPU module with extended temperature range, only that extra CPU module would function in the extended range; the main board (and its included CPU module) would not. Also note that the optional LCD modules have an operating temperature range of -20 to +70 C.
