LilyPad Arduino USB: Wearable AVR ATmega32U4 Main Board, 3.3V


This LilyPad Arduino USB is a variation of the LilyPad Main Board for wearable electronics. It has fewer available pins, but it has several advantages: It doesn't require any external hardware to program it (only a micro-USB cable); it has a JST connector for attaching a LiPo battery (which can be recharged via USB without needing to be unplugged); and it has a power switch so you can save power until your eTextile garment is ready to show off.

Not only that, but the LilyPad Arduino USB is officially supported in Arduino IDE version 1.0.2 and above.

The JST connector allows you to power the board from any of these Polymer-Lithium Batteries no soldering or external battery connector board required. The board uses an ATmega32U4 processor with built-in USB-to-serial interface, which allows you to program the LilyPad from your PC with nothing more than a micro-USB cable. Even better, you can recharge your battery through the USB without having to disconnect it from the LilyPad board (just be keep an eye on it to avoid risk of fire with your fabric).

LilyPad is a wearable e-textile technology developed by Leah Buechley. Each LilyPad is designed to have large connecting pads to allow them to be sewn into clothing. Various input, output, power, and sensor boards are available. Most are even washable just remember to remove the battery during washing.
