This handy 3-foot cable can be used to provide 5V power to boards that have a 5.5/2.1mm barrel jack DC connector. There are two useful ways to do this:
- For boards that don't need more than 500mA, you can use this cable directly between your PC's USB port and your board.
- For boards that require more than 500mA, you can use this cable either in combination with the TOL-11456 5V/1A or WA-VAR-2A 5V/2A supply (whose actual outputs vary from 4.8V to 5.2V), or in combination with the DCDC6-16-TO5 barrel-to-USB adapter/regulator and any 6-16V wall power supply like WA-VAR-US or WA-UNI to source a regulated 5V supply with up to 2A of current (dependent on the power supply you use). For higher-voltage input you can use the DCDC-36-5-12 (if you close the two solder jumpers on the back to set it to 5V output).
This cable can be used for power delivery only. It does not carry USB data lines.
