Pin-compatible replacement for GM862-QUAD
If you have a system designed for the obsolete GM862-QUAD module, this GSM Booster is what you need to prevent a redesign. It includes Telit's new GL865-QUAD module on an adapter board that provides the same size and connection form factor that the GM862-QUAD had.
This includes an MMCX GSM antenna connector, a SIM card holder and a CSTP 50-pin vertical SMD Molex connector (male). It can be used on any development board that was designed for the GM862-QUAD — just note that there are differences between the two modules (i.e. functions/pins the GL865 did not carry over from the GM862, or which couldn't be implemented because those functions on the GL865 use shared pins). These are listed on a comparison table in the GSM Booster's user manual which you can download below.
The Telit GL865-QUAD is a highly efficient Quad-band GSM/GPRS class 10 module. It features an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, a serial multiplexer, and Remote AT commands. Like its predecessor, it has an embedded Python script interpreter. It also supports the m2mLOCATE Cell-ID based global-positioning feature, and is compliant with the eCall EU Directive.
There are four zero-ohm SMD jumpers used to select whether Handsfree (HF) or Handset (MT) audio pins are used. These jumpers are soldered in the HF position by default. A SIM card and GSM antenna are not included in the package.
Connecting an Antenna You'll need an adapter to connect most antennae to the MMCX connector on this modem. Some example combinations:
