The RFM22B is a low-cost FSK transceiver module which offers communication at 433MHz ISM (Region 1: Europe & Africa) and adjustable output power of up to +20 dBm. It provides a way for your Arduino to talk to other Arduinos via point-to-point or even basic mesh networks.
The RFM22 Shield connects the RFM22B module to the appropriate lines on the Arduino. By using the RF22 Library, you can send and receive messages via standard 4-wire SPI. The library includes command structures for setting up anything from simple non-addressed point-to-point communication to fully addressed networks of clients and routers.
The shield also provides a through-hole antenna connection for hooking up a basic wire antenna. A hole is drilled next to the ANT pin so you can weave your wire antenna through it for strain relief.
The shield has on-board power regulation and level shifting. There are one-pin headers and jumpers on the interrupt (nIRQ), interface select (nSEL), shutdown input (SDN) and GPIO2 lines so that you can cut the trace and re-route those lines if your project requires it. The board also provides a little bit of prototyping space.
Check your country's regulations about the 433 MHz frequency band. In the United States, you must have an amateur radio operator's license from the FCC in order to use this shield.

This shield does not come with any headers installed. You will have to solder headers before you can plug it into your Arduino board. See below for header options you can add to your order.
