The Netduino GO! Starter Kit is a bundle of the following: The kit also includes two 5 cm ribbon cables, two 10 cm ribbon cables, and a 3 ft micro-USB cable.
Note: The image shows the modules plugged into the Netduino GO! main board at random; it is not a valid arrangement. It is possible to connect and use every component simultaneously, but not in the arrangement shown. The Shield Base Beta requires that nothing else is used within the same "channel" on the main board. It is shown here plugged into port 5, which is part of the second of two channels (ports 1-4 and 5-8). Thus the button and potentiometer modules shown here plugged into ports 6 and 8 actually should be moved to the other side of the main board along with the RGB LED module.
The Netduino GO! main board features an STMicroelectronics STM32F405RG ARM Cortex-M4F processor running at 168 MHz. It has eight 2×5-pin ports (0.05" pitch) providing virtualized I/O allowing many different peripheral modules to be used together. Each peripheral module has a CPU of its own that communicates with the STM32.
The Shield Base Beta provides Arduino shield compatibility, basically turning the Netduino GO! into a full-fledged Netduino (minus power jack and USB), while leaving additional expansion ports available (as well as having a faster processor with more memory). The virtualization technology on the Netduino GO! allows you to use the shield base as a Netduino, and your shields won't know the difference.
See the Arduino Shields Category to pick out some Arduino shields that you may want to use. The Base Shield is compatible with both R2 and R3 Arduino pinouts.
