Arduino Radiation Sensor Shield, Supports 400-1000V Geiger Tubes US$219.00

Arduino Radiation Sensor Shield, Supports 400-1000V Geiger Tubes

With the Radiation Sensor Shield for Arduino, you can detect Alpha, Beta and Gamma radiation using any Geiger tube which works in the range 400V to 1000V, then read these levels using an Arduino (such as the Arduino Uno).

Note: No Geiger tube is included. The picture shows this board with an LND-712 Geiger tube for illustration purposes only. You must supply your own tube. The board has been tested with tubes from GSTube, LND, and North Optic, though any Geiger tube that operates in the 400-1000V range should work. You also can purchase this board with a J305βγ Geiger tube soldered.

As well as on the serial terminal, the radiation levels can be shown using different actuators:

  • Piezo: it allows you to hear the typical "chirp" common in radioactivity counters
  • LEDs: 3 green and 2 red LEDs let you show low, medium and high levels
  • LCD: it displays the counts per minute (cpm) and the equivalent absorbed energy levels in Sieverts (µSV/h)
