Microchip PIC Prototype Board for 18-pin PICs, USB-UART


The PIC-Ready2 Board is a prototype board for 18-pin PIC microcontrollers. The board features a USB port with an on-board FT232R USB-to-serial-UART interface device.

Two 18-pin DIP sockets are provided on the board, to support the two different pinouts found on 18-pin PIC microcontrollers. All MCU pins are brought out to a pair of 25 headers, so you can connect your peripherals. A large prototyping area allows you to solder your own circuit right on the board and create a self-contained product.

A 25 programming header is available for programming/debugging your PIC microcontroller. The header is compatible with the mikroProg for PIC programmer or any in-circuit PIC programmer with flying leads that you can place on the correct pins.

A DIP switch lets you determine which microcontroller pins are to be used for UART communication. This is especially important if you were to install bootloader firmware into your PIC; you could then set the appropriate switches to enable the USB bootloading scenario.

The board can be powered with 8-16V AC or DC power supply via a two-pole screw terminal.
