8x Darlington Transistor Array Board, 5V-50V, IDC10 (mikroDrive)


  • ULN2803 Darlington transistor array with eight outputs
  • Jumper to select power source between 5V system VCC or external up to 50V
  • Screw terminals for the 8x outputs and for external power supply
  • The mikroDrive Board features a ULN2803AN high-current 8x Darlington transistor array suitable for an interface between low-level logic circuitry and multiple peripheral power loads. Typical power loads with over 260W (350mA 8, 95V) may have drivers turned on simultaneously. Typical loads include relays, solenoids, stepper motors, magnetic print hammers, multiplexed LED and incandescent displays, and heaters. All devices feature open-collector outputs with integral clamp diodes.

    The board can connect to a microcontroller's output pins via its female IDC10 connector. The pinout is compatible with 25-pin port headers on development boards by mikroElektronika.

    Use in your own design

    While this board was created originally for mikroElektronika's development systems, it's certainly possible to use in your own project. To do so, you may want to pick up IDC10 box headers that you can solder onto your PCB, or an EasyTEST board to wire it up easily.

    A jumper on the board allows you to select the power supply source for the ULN2803's output drivers. In the VCC position, power comes through the IDC10 connector from the 5V microcontroller host system. In the VCC-EXT position, the outputs are powered from an external source up to 50V via screw terminals on the board.
