GPRS-Shield
GSM/GPRS Module for Arduino

The GSM/GPRS Shield for Arduino allows your Arduino board to send SMS messages via the GSM network to any other GSM device around the world. It also allows you to establish a wireless GSM/GPRS connection to the Internet to receive or transmit data (data plan required from your mobile phone provider).

The GPRS shield is fully compatible with the Arduino Diecimila, Duemilanove, Uno and Mega boards.

This board requires that you have an activated GSM SIM card from a mobile phone provider that has a GSM network (in USA those are AT&T and T-Mobile). The GPRS standard supports data transmissions with baud rates up to 9600 Baud over the GSM network.

The GSM/GPRS Shield includes the HiLo SAGEM GSM/GPRS communication module. This module has a U.FL antenna connection. You will need to add an antenna in order to use this board. We offer a compatible antenna.

Important! Powering the board.

The USB ports on some computers are not able to provide enough current for the module to work reliably. If your module goes down when it tries to connect to the network, use an external power supply (9-12V - 1A) for your Arduino board. If you use a power supply with output smaller than 2A, you should add an extra capacitor for the power, e.g. a 220 uF electrolytic capacitor between 5V and GND.
