Simple-to-use USB-to-serial base unit for XBee The XBee Explorer USB works with most XBee modules including the Series 1 and Series 2.5, standard and Pro versions. Plug an XBee module into the XBee Explorer, attach a mini-USB cable, and you will have direct access to the serial and programming pins on the XBee unit. XBee WiFi modules won't fit properly on this board! The WiFi modules are thicker and will collide with this board's mini-USB connector. The WiFi modules will, however, fit on the XBee Explorer USB Dongle version. The board's MIC5219 voltage regulator is rated for 500mA, so this board can be used safely with XBee Pro modules (you may need to use FTDI's ft_prog.exe utility to increase the Max Bus Power value under "USB Config Descriptors"). This board uses an FTDI FT231X USB-to-Serial converter. There's also a reset button and four LEDs that can be useful for debugging your code: RX, TX, RSSI and a power indicator. The LEDs can be disabled by cutting jumper traces on the bottom of the board. You must cut the RSSI jumper trace if you're using an XBee XSC (S3 or S3B) module! Each of the XBee's I/O pins are broken out to a pair of breadboard-compatible headers, so you can make use of extended functionality from the XBee modules. This order page is for the board only. XBee modules and mini-USB cable are sold separately. USB XBee Interface Board Documentation & Drivers
