PIC18F67J60 Ethernet/Webserver board, 1MB Flash, RS232, Temp. US$22.00

PIC-WEB
PIC18F67J60 Ethernet/Webserver board, 1MB Flash, RS232, Temp.

Web server TCP/IP Development Board

PIC-WEB is a compact board which is supported by Microchip's open-source TCP/IP stack AN833. The board is designed with a 64-pin PIC18F67J60 microcontroller which has a built-in Ethernet controller, supporting SLIP, ARP, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, HTTP, DHCP, and FTP. The Microchip stack is very modular and flexible so you can enable or disable modules, and it supports dynamic web pages which give you the possibility to control all PIC resources remotely via FTP, HTTP, UDP, TCP, etc.

With this board, you can implement web and FTP servers, send e-mail and almost everything that the big servers do. The on-board 1Mbit serial Flash is available for data storage. This board is designed to have web page of no more than 128 kB. If you want a lot of images in your application, you can host them on another server visible on the network where you have the PIC-WEB connected. The potential of the board is to generate fluid communication between some specific sensors or actuators across a TCP/IP net including controls.

The Microchip stack is an open-source library which you can modify and compile at any time. You probably will need to modify it to your own needs. The board comes with an implemented web server and a web page that lets you control some of the features of the board. The best thing is that you don't have to be a PIC programmer or know C; you can make your project in HTML, Javascript, or Ajax and have all PIC resources as dynamic variables so you can toggle GPIOs and read ADC values etc. in your HTML code. To add new variables you can add them in HTTPPrint.h also which is part of the stack, then rebuild and upload to new code to the PIC-WEB.

The board has two headers for connecting external devices, one of which is a standard pinout used by dozens of pre-existing devices; see below.

Microchip PIC18F67J60 Ethernet Board Features

  • PIC18F67J60 microcontroller
  • 1 Mbit on-board serial Flash for web page storage
  • Mini-ICSP connector for PIC-KIT3 debugger with Mini 6-pin adapter or other programmers with Mini 6-pin adapter and RJ12 adapter
  • Reset button
  • User event button
  • Analog trimmer potentiometer
  • Thermistor for temperature monitoring
  • RS232 driver and connector
  • Complete web server and TCP/IP stack support as per Microchip's open-source TCP/IP stack
  • Power plug-in jack for +9V to +12V DC power supply
  • Voltage regulator +3.3V and filtering capacitors
  • Status LED
  • 40-pin extension header to connect to other boards
  • UEXT connector (see below)
  • Dimensions 60 × 65 mm (2.36 × 2.55")
The board comes with the TCP/IP stack pre-loaded. With IP set to 192.168.0.30, you can configure the PIC-WEB TCP/IP via RS232 (you may need to disable DHCP if the page doesn't open on the first try). See the User Manual for details.

Add-on UEXT Modules Available

This board has a universal extension connector, UEXT, which allows you to add a peripheral module easily. The UEXT can provide I2C, RS232, SPI and power to the external device. Please see the UEXT Boards Category for a full list of modules that can plug into the UEXT port. You can control relays, a sensor or an LCD, or, using the default TCP/IP-to-RS232 bridge on port 9761, you could read RFID tags, all via Ethernet.
