This adapter allows you to connect any RS232 peripheral to a PC's USB port. It does this through the use of an FTDI virtual COM port controller.

Virtual COM port drivers are not shipped with this adapter. You can download drivers for Windows, Mac and Linux from FTDI.

As pictured, this adapter can be used also to supply 18V DC, 100mA power to a target device. The use of the RS232 port connector is not necessary to use the power-supply function; this adapter can be used solely as an 18V DC power supply straight from your computer's USB port. Likewise, if your target doesn't require external power (or can't handle 18V), you can use only the USB-to-RS232 adapter function, and power your device through existing means.

Note: The USB connector on this adapter is a female A type. To connect the adapter to a PC using a standard USB cable, you will need an A-to-B port adapter. You may add that adapter to your order with the option below. The cable option below is for a standard USB cable; it will not connect this adapter to a PC without a USB adapter.
