MOD-IRDA+ is an add-on for systems with a UEXT expansion connector. It will allow you to add Infra-red communication capability to the system. It features an IR receiver and an IR LED, so you can create a remote control or create a device that can be controlled by an existing remote.
Unlike the original MOD-IRDA which connected the transmitter and receiver directly to the UEXT's UART TX/RX pins, this version instead connects to an on-board PIC16F1503 microcontroller that facilitates an I2C/SPI interface.
PCB trace jumpers allow for some configuration. The PCB also has pads for attaching an ICSP connector should you ever need or want to reprogram the on-board PIC microcontroller.
IrDA Add-on Module Features
- IR receiver, up to 5 meter distance
- High efficiency IR LED
- UEXT connector (see below)
- IDC10 cable included
UEXT Connector The UEXT connector provides a solderless way to connect this module to a system with a microcontroller. There are dozens of microcontroller systems and development boards that can connect to this module via UEXT using the supplied cable. Click on the architectures below for lists of compatible boards:
