Decodes MPEG 1.0 and 2.0 audio layer III (MP3: Constant Bit Rate, Variable Bit Rate, Average Bit Rate) Optionally decodes MPEG layers I and II (MP1, MP2) Decodes WAV (PCM + IMA ADPCM) MMC/SD card slot on board Low-power serial control and data interfaces Industry-standard Serial Peripheral Interface On-board speaker, plus screw terminals for external speaker or headphones Works with both 3.3V and 5V systems
The SmartMP3 Board features an MMC/SD card clot and a VS1011e single-chip MPEG audio decoder. The chip includes a high-performance, low-power VS DSP4 processor core, working memory, 5 KiB instruction RAM and 0.5 KiB data RAM for user applications, serial control and input data interfaces, four general-purpose I/O pins, as well as a high-quality variable-sample-rate stereo DAC, an earphone amplifier, and a common buffer. The board can be connected to your development board using provided IDC10 connector cables.
A jumper on the board allows you to set the power supply voltage to 3.3V or 5V depending on your development system. Additional jumpers let you enable or disable the on-board speaker. Screw terminals are provided for a powered or unpowered audio output, i.e. headphones or external speakers.
