The Keypad 4x4 Board features 16 pushbuttons arranged in 4×4 matrix to form standard alphanumeric keypad. Embedded systems that require user input in the form of numbers (decimal or hexadecimal) can use this board as a solution. The board has a flat ribbon cable that has female IDC10 connectors which allow the board to be plugged into a development system with a 2×5 male header. The pinout is compatible with the I/O port headers found on development boards by mikroElektronika, so you can add this keypad to one of those systems without having to solder anything.
Use in your own design While this board was created originally for mikroElektronika's development systems, it's certainly possible to use in your own project. To do so, you may want to pick up IDC10 box headers that you can solder onto your PCB, or an EasyTEST board to wire it up easily.
This keypad can be used in both 3.3V and 5V systems.
