  • GNSS 2 click carries Quectel's L76-M33 GNSS module and an SMA external antenna connector. GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System, an umbrella term that describes both the United States GPS and the Russian GLONASS global positioning systems. This module thus benefits from being able to receive signals from a larger number of satellites, increasing its speed and precision.

    This module incorporates several technologies that enhance its performance. EASY™ Technology ensures that the L76 can calculate and predict orbits automatically using data stored in its internal Flash memory. AlwaysLocate™ technology adaptively adjusts the on/off time to balance between positioning accuracy and power consumption.

    GNSS 2 click communicates with your target board through the mikroBUS UART (RX, TX), AN (used for FON), RST, and PWM (used by Standby) lines. An on-board LED indicates PPS activity. There's also a VBAT footprint for connecting an external power supply that can maintain power to the module's SRAM which can store GPS information necessary for quick start-up.

    A solder jumper allows you to set the module for 3.3V or 5V power and logic levels. It is in the 3.3V position by default.

    Note: The picture shows the board with through-hole headers. The board now comes populated with male pin headers already soldered for your convenience. The board's user manual has yet to be updated to remove the soldering instructions.

    mikroBUS Click Boards Overview

    Click boards plug directly into a mikroBUS socket. mikroBUS is a specially designed plug-and-play pinout standard. The sockets are found on Clicker boards, the Flip & Click Arduino/Python-compatible board, the Quail board, these mikromedia shields, the Microchip Curiosity board, and development systems from mikroElektronika (V7 systems and later).
