The EM-LPC1200 Blue Sprite Starter Kit is part of a series of comprehensive evaluation kits for NXP LPC1000-based ARM Cortex-M0/M3 microcontrollers. Each kit consists of an evaluation board and an attached Colink USB JTAG debugger. This one has an LPC1227 microcontroller.
Other kits in the Blue Sprite series are available with the following microcontrollers: LPC1114 (coming soon), LPC11C14, LPC11U14 (coming soon), and LPC1343 (coming soon).
The LPC1127 ARM Cortex-M0 MCU operates at 33 MHz. The evaluation board part of the starter kit has LPCXpresso-compatible GPIO header pads, so you can use it with an LPCXpresso Baseboard. The LPC1227 has two UARTs (one supporting RS485), an 8-channel 10-bit ADC, two 16-bit timers, two 32-bit timers, and plenty of peripheral functions such as SSP, I2C and a Power Management Unit.
This starter kit is a good Cortex-M0 development platform for learning and project evaluation. The on-board Colink is a very smart debugging adapter which can be used in MDK, IAR, CooCox, LPCXpresso IDE, etc. The Colink supports download, debugging, trace, etc. Plenty of source code on the included CD-ROM will help you to start using the board as a short time.
This kit includes a Colink JTAG programmer/debugger attached to the side, as pictured. The Colink connects to your PC via a mini-USB cable which is included in the kit. It also has a 2x5-pin SWD interface so you can use an external debugger.
