LPC2148 Development Board with 2xRS232, USB, VGA, PS/2, SD Card Holder and 2x16 LCD

The Blueboard-LPC214x Development board features a LPC2148 (ARM7 core) microcontroller. It provides various interfaces and peripherals whose use is illustrated through sample code snippets (see downloads below) to get you started quickly in your ARM development. The LPC2148 chip's pin signals can be accessed via through-hole solder pads on the board. If you mount pin headers into these solder pads, you can easily attach probes or connect additional circuit boards or peripherals via jumper wires.

The LPC2148 microcontroller has 512KB of internal flash and 32+8K RAM, can be clocked up to 60MHz. LPC2148 features include USB 2.0 device, 2xUARTs, RTC, 2x10bit ADCs (each ADC has multiple channels), 1xDAC, 6XPWM, 2xI2C, 1xSPI, 1XSSP, 2x32-bit TIMERS, FAST I/0 support and WDT. The LPC2148 also supports In System Programming (ISP)

BLUEBOARD-LPC214x Features

  • Power: 6.5V...9V DC with power LED. On-board linear regulators generate +3.3V/500mA and +5V/500mA from optional external power supply. Board can also be powered via USB
  • ISP and Reset switch
  • 12.0000 MHz crystal for MCU,32KHz crystal for RTC
  • Extension headers for all microcontroller pins
  • 2x RS232
  • 1x VGA connector
  • 1x PS/2 mouse/keyboard connector
  • 20- pin JTAG connector
  • SD/MMC card connector
  • USB type-B connector with link-LED
  • All peripheral configurable via jumper
  • Audio power amplifier
  • 2 line 16 character LCD
  • Backlight control for LCD
  • Configurable for manual and automatic program download (ISP) via serial port
  • 8 controllable LEDs via SPI serial-to parallel driver chip

What tools to use

All the tools that support LPC2000 ARM7 series of micro controllers can be used. Below are some possible choices, see the websites of the respective manufacturers for details:

  • KEIL uvision4 IDE (32k limited evaluation version is available)
  • Rowley Crossworks (30 day evaluation version available)
  • IAR workbench (32K code limited evaluation version available)/li>
  • GNU based open source tool chains: GNU C, Eclipse, IDE, OpenOCD...

How to program the board

There are various options:

  • JTAG interface, use an ARM-JTAG debugger + appropriate software
  • ISP programming: Programming through the on chip boot loader using UART interface and free NXP FlashMagic programming utility
  • USB secondary bootloader
