Digital Works is a graphical design tool that enables you to construct digital logic and computer architecture circuits and analyse their behavior. It is so simple to use that it will take you less than 10 minutes to make your first digital design. It is so powerful that you will never outgrow its capability. Digital Works Logic Simulator Features - Macro capability allows complex circuits to be built
- Ability to create your own circuits, components, and ICs
- Animation brings circuits to life and facilitates understanding
- Vast library of 74 series ICs, datasheets and macros
- Tri-state capability
- Race condition detection
- Bus contention detection
- In-built logic history analyser
The ability to create macros is what makes Digital Works different from other logic simulators. This extremely powerful feature enables you to convert a circuit into a new logic element itself and the new logic element can be used as a building block in the construction of more complex circuits. The complex circuit can also be converted into a new logic element, and so on. This enables you to create a hierarchy of digital objects, with each new level hiding the complexity of its implementation. The macro feature can be used to either make a schematic of the circuit block or you can wire integrated circuits themselves together so that you can use existing 74 series ICs to build up your circuit. Getting started is simple. You use the drag-and-drop interface to position your gates and devices, wire them up with the wiring tool and then press the RUN button. When you ‘run’ the design, a logic 0 node is shown as a gray wire and logic 1 as a black wire – this allows you to follow the flow of logic through the most complex sequential logic circuit. The speed of the logic simulation can be adjusted as well. Circuits can be composed of simple gates (AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, XNOR, NOT tri-state buffer), simple flip-flops (D, RS and JK), simple input devices (variable speed clock, sequence generators, slide switch and push switch), memories (lots) and simple output devices (LEDs, 7-segment displays). More than 30,000 copies of Digital Works are in use today for prototyping digital logic circuits, learning more about digital logic, and learning how the basic building blocks of computers work.
