The Analog & Digital Waveform Generator ETC M631 is a hardware and software package that turns your PC into a powerful, dual channel generator. It connects to a PC via a parallel port or to a USB port with an optional USB-to-parallel-port adapter.

Both analog signals and digital events can be defined using up to 256K points. The resolution of a voltage waveform is 8 bit, The width of a digital word is 16 bit. Digital event generation requires the optional A631 digital adapter, which is not contained in the basic package.

The included M631 control software allows an easy access to all the waveform generator functions by mouse. Predefined functions allow easy generation of standard waveforms, such as sinus, saw, triangle, rectangular and noise.

Several powerful waveform editors allow you to custom define virtually any desired waveform.

  • Digital patterns can be generated using the digital wave editor (pattern generator).
  • A mathematical editor allows you to express a waveform as a mathematical function. Supported expressions are addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, absolute value, sin, cos, square and percentage.
  • With the manual graphical editor you can simply draw a signal waveform.
  • The harmonic editor synthesizes a signal from up to 256 harmonic components.
  • The amplitude modulation editor, finally, enables you to create a harmonic wave of a given frequency that is modulated by a chosen wave.

It is possible to set the signal waveform, level and magnitude of a superimposed voltage (one-directional shift) for each channel independently.

The generator's output voltage amplitude can be modulated by applying an external signal through the external modulation inputs

Channel B frequency can be defined as an integer multiple of the channel A frequency. In addition a phase shift between the output voltages of channel A and B can be set.

E604/2: Allows to connect 2 EMLII series devices to one PC parallel port or one EC602 USB adapter
E604/4: Each E604/4 in combination with a single E604/2 allows the connection of one additional ELMII device. Example: 1x E604/2 and 1x E604/4 = 3 devices, 1x E604/2 and 2x E604/4= 4 devices, etc.

Digital Waveform Adapter

EA631/E 16 channel digital pattern generator adapter allows you to generate 16-bit words with up to 50MHz frequency.
