This board is based on Texas Instruments Application Note SLAA264, providing a hardware platform for ZigBee wireless communication using an MSP430 Flash processor.

MSP430 ZigBee Board Features

  • MSP430F1611 or MSP430F1612 processor (choose option below)
  • 2.4 GHz ZigBee operation with Chipcon CC2400
  • ZNS-Lite ZigBee software 4-node stack from Airbee Wireless
  • Powered from terminal block or dual AAA supply using TPS60210 charge pump
  • RS232 interface via MAX3221
  • 4-pin I2C header
  • 50k potentiometer for analog experimentation
  • 14-pin JTAG+ programming header, with optional bootloader mode when using boodloader hardware with a JTAG+ adapter
  • All port pins available at headers
  • 4 user switches
  • 4 user LEDs
  • Powered prototyping areas
  • PCB antenna included, plus support for optional SMA antenna (not included)
  • 32 kHz crystal on X1

  • 12-bit A/D Converter with Internal Reference, Sample-and-Hold, and Autoscan
  • Dual 12-bit D/A Converters with Synchronization
  • 16-bit Timer_A with 3 Capture/Compare Registers
  • 16-bit Timer_B with 7 Capture/Compare-With-Shadow Registers
  • On-chip Comparator
  • USART0 Functions as Asynchronous UART, Synchronous SPI, or I2C
  • USART1 Functions as Asynchronous UART or Synchronous SPI
  • Brown-out Detection
  • Supply Voltage Supervisor/Monitor with Programmable Level Detection
  • Programmable Code Protection by Security Fuse

Available Options

Unless you already have other ZigBee hardware, you will need to buy more than one of these boards to create a ZigBee network. There is a Quantity option below for purchasing two or four boards at bundle discounts. This is different than the quantity field in your shopping cart. For example, to order three boards and get a bundle discount, create two line items in your cart: One with Quantity 2 option; one with Quantity 1 option. If you leave the Quantity option field at 1 then place a quantity of 2 or 3 in your shopping cart, a bundle discount will not be applied!

Additionally, you can choose which microcontroller best suits your project's memory requirements by using the Microcontroller option below. The MSP430F1611 has 48 kBytes Flash and 10 kBytes RAM; the MSP430F1612 has 55 kBytes Flash and 5 kBytes RAM.
