Add-on Board: XBee, Bluetooth, IrDA Interfaces, Stackable US$49.00

CB-1
Add-on Board: XBee, Bluetooth, IrDA Interfaces, Stackable

CB-1 is a wireless communications peripheral board. CB-1 provides Infrared (IrDA), Zigbee, and Bluetooth communications for a host microcontroller.

Note: The picture shows a Zigbee module installed for illustration purposes only. No Zigbee, Bluetooth or IrDA modules are included. IrDA support is optional; use the selector at the bottom of this page if you want to add IrDA support.

The CB-1 supports PROMI and Blue Radio Bluetooth modules, and XBee and XBee PRO Zigbee modules.

Control pins and 5V power supply connections are available on a 20-pin (210) expansion connector for interfacing to existing microcontroller systems. This board can be connected either as a piggyback daughterboard on a microcontroller board (one with a matching connector) using standoffs or can be placed away from the microcontroller board using a 20-wire ribbon cable.

The expansion connector is plug-in compatible with MicroTRAK, MINI-MAX and BSCB systems. You can use it in your own system too, of course; see the manual for the expansion connector's pinout.

Wireless Communications Peripheral Board Features

  • Slave mode Synchronous Serial Interface (SPI) for host communications. SPI clock speed up to 15Mbit/s
  • 64 bytes of transmit and receive FIFO
  • (Optional) MCP2140 Controller and GP2W0004YP0F Transceiver are used to provide IrDA communications (9600 baud, up to one meter range)
  • An interface and a socket for XBee module
  • An interface and a socket for PROMI-ESD02 BlueTooth module
  • An interface and a socket for BR-SC40A BlueRadios module
  • 20-pin expansion connector for a host microcontroller board
  • 6-pin PWM and analog output connector
  • One or two CB-1 boards can be connected to a single host microcontroller board
  • Single operating voltage: 5V DC, 60mA typical (180mA maximum) current consumption
  • On-board 3.3V DC regulator powered from an external 5V DC through the expansion connector
  • Dimensions: 2.35 2.40 inches (5.97 6.10 cm)
  • Mounting holes of 0.125 inches (3.5 mm) on the four corners
  • 0 to 70 C operating, -40 to +85 C storage temperature range

If you want to chain multiple add-on boards together, you can purchase cable and connectors separately to construct daisy-chain cables that suit your setup.
